As the Covid-19 saga slowly draws to a close (hopefully!), we can now look to the future for IDAW and part of our remit is to support Independent Practitioners in their day to day working lives. As CPD is always going to play a fundemental part we thought it was now time to start offering another option but instead of the usual IRMER or composite course we wanted to offer something different. We want to look into how to make your life easier, how to adapt for the future both as clincians and business owners.

Heard of sleep medicine?

As clinicians we invest in delivering the best quality of care to our patients and focus on the minute
accuracies of digital technology, clinical and laboratory workflow ….at the same time our working
days are often becoming longer and instead of being more productive, we ourselves are becoming
the biggest inaccuracy in delivering patient care.
Do we recognise that each one of us at some stage in life IS sleep derived?
So how does sleep deprivation compromise our family and professional relationships?
Do you know that the recently published NICE guidelines on Sleep Disordered Breathing specifically
acknowledge your dental team and their role to screen and manage these patients to improve the
quality and longevity of their life?
Are you one of the 80% of undiagnosed patients with Sleep Disordered Breathing (Snoring and
Obstructive Sleep Apnoea) ?
Let’s care for ourselves so we can care for others.

Martin Crump

MD of Evolution Development

Where you lead, do they follow?

The only constant in business is change.  The only thing we can rely on is that we will be doing things differently in the future. How we adapt to those changes is the key.  We can adapt – or die.

In these presentations I will introduce the concept of change, look at some historical lessons and look at how we can adapt to change. I will also introduce some ways of selling change to your teams and getting their buy in.

Dr Victoria Collette Jones BDS

Should I jump onboard or have I missed the boat?

Author of, Truth Decay – How Bitcoin Fixes This: Unveiling the Path to Financial Freedom, Victoria will give you her insights into the world of cryptocurrency and blockchain. How to get started, where to go with it and its applications in the real world. Unmissable if you don’t want to be left in the dark ages!

Bristol CadCam

Dr Aly Virani

The Digital Patient

Future proofing careers and practices involves investing in quality infrastructure that makes life easier for clinicians, their support staff and is an attractive option for patients. Bristol Cadcam will be joining us to demonstrate the Medit scanner and allow you to try it out to see for yourself.

Dr Paul Reaney and our very own Dr Aly Virani will be showing you how they utilize scanners everyday in their practices for examination of patients and in treatment planning for snoring devices and implants.

Aly will also be giving you a quick overview of recent legislation updates in regards to CBCTs.

Its going to be a jam-packed day of ideas and information all set in the beautiful surroundings of Hensol Castle at the Vale resort. You’ll be fed and watered for the day whilst being awarded your verifiable CPD. And, as if that wasn’t enough, in the evening we will be visiting the fabulous Hensol Gin Distillery for a tour and, of course, a little sample of its wares, accompanied by some gorgeous food and the chance to discuss everything you’ve learnt with your like minded peers.
